Week Thirty - My Heart Belongs To You

This song is track seven from our Leave This Blue album, 2025.

My Heart Belongs To You was written for Joy. The verses trace where we are now, our history in the early years, and what lies before us. The chorus connects each era. Simple and straight forward.
This week’s poem is You and I from my third collection, Horizon - it explores how couples are so diverse from each other - reaching across individual hemispheres to co-exist and connect. Being there, for each other in times of joy, happiness, sadness, and difficulty.

Fredrick Brooks - Vocal, Acoustic/Electric/Bass Guitars and Keyboards.
Chris Pezzarello - Drums

MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU

We are lovers - riding a fast train
Through the heart of this life - into what remains
And it’s the call of your arms - that keeps me alive
It’s this fire deep inside  -  that can’t be denied

Chorus
And all I can tell you
Is I carry what’s true
Into what lies before me
My heart belongs to you

It seemed by chance - on that far off day
Down that broken road - we carried the weight
We were early lovers then
Driving in the rain - safe in each other’s arms
Vowed against the pain

Chorus

Now it’s you and I - on a path so clear
We circle the dark - and hold each other near

Chorus

==========

YOU AND I

You and I
Fingers and Toes
Crossing Hemispheres
Our diverse planets
Reaching
Your simple fragrance
Calling

From love’s deep sleep
You unearthed me from shadow
Like a barren seed
Denied light

You and I
Crossing hemispheres
Reaching
Touching
Your simple fragrance
Calling Me

For Joy
