I wrote this for Joy - a celebration of our amazing journey together. I had planned on singing this but decided to give it to Joy. This is written in the jazz standard style. It has been around for some time and finally released on our Evening from Hillcrest album and was re-released on the Joy Palmer Brooks solo album.

Time goes by - still I love you comes as no surprise
For I still see that light in your eyes
In this place we call love
You and I - we are lovers who’ve stood the test of time
Through the dark and into the light
In this place we call love
You are my wonder - you are my heart
Through the years you’ve been my shining star
For I will love you - for the dream you are
Time goes by - still I love you and it feels so right
It’s in the way we hold each other tight
In this place we call love
You are my wonder - you are my heart
Through the years you’ve been my shining star
And I will love you - for the dream
Yes I will love you - for the dream
Oh I will love you - for the dream you are
I will love you - for the dream you are
Yes I will love you
For the dream you are

++++++++
I wrote this during COVID. Locked up in our home we received a lovely delivery of groceries from our daughter Katherine.
A GIFT
A gift of care lay at my door
A heart revealed, who could ask for more
As daylight fell, a bell did ring
Before the lonely nightbirds sing
For countless days, our restless ways
Stood before windows, locked away
No footprints
No open door
We laid low
With hope of more
This gift did come from a premise sad
Yet turned, our hearts from dark to glad
And so we are the fortunate ones
To know a love, never done.
For Katherine
