Week Thirty-Two - I Must Go (The Brooks Sisters)

I Must Go was a standard in the early days of Brookfield (North). It was a fun song about moving from traditional folk and exploring other styes. This recording is from the The Brook’s Sister’s album, The Carport Sessions, I think our daughters did a much better job of it. So here’s their cover version of our tune.
This week’s poem, Passage, is from Horizon. It celebrates the Brooks Sisters tour of Europe - (understanding the connection between those at home and those so far away).

I MUST GO

I found love in my heart tonight
A curtain call with friends
This song and dance we held so true
Will show us through to the end

Chorus
So don’t tell me you feel like going back
When the turn of the cards cry no
Cause it’s darker - closer than you see
And I must go

It’s all in order our time’s in hand
In folklore we cry no more
It’s a secret from no one
Just a kind old friend
Has passed the door

Chorus

PASSAGE

Flying over the continent
Moving towards sunrise
Our passage reveals a seam in the Earth’s magnetic morning
Our vessel floats beneath the shimmering heavens
Like a tiny cell in a vast blue sea
It is hope – it is beautiful

Our summer bird
A speck floating across the great abyss
Tips its silver wings
Levels  - engines quiet
Softly landing in the rain and mist of a new world
It is hope – it is beautiful

We are joined, by the vast space between us
Invisible threads that have been woven by the test of time
Our unmistakable hearts deny the distance
Understanding the passage
It is hope – it is beautiful
